Nina Maria Václavková je součástí Alexmonhart
Maria Nina Václavková is joining the creative development of ALEXMONHART. One of the distinctive voices in contemporary Czech design, Václavková graduated from the K.O.V. (Concept – Object – Meaning) studio at UMPRUM and has long explored an experimental approach to materials, technology, and form.
Václavková brings extensive experience in fashion and product design to the brand, along with a strong signature approach that combines sculptural thinking with technological experimentation. Her work often exists at the intersection of object, fashion, and architecture — she describes shoes, for example, as “small-scale architecture around the human foot.”
Her role at ALEXMONHART will focus primarily on product design and on exploring new ways for the brand to work with materials, construction, and form. “ALEXMONHART is a brand that has always worked with a clear design language and a strong idea. That resonates deeply with me. I enjoy thinking about objects designed to last — not only physically, but aesthetically as well. And that is something ALEXMONHART has been doing consistently for years,” says Maria Nina Václavková.
Václavková, however, is by no means a new face to ALEXMONHART. “We’ve known Nina for more than ten years. She is one of our closest friends, and perhaps it was only a matter of time before that natural closeness evolved into a professional collaboration. We share a similar sensitivity to materials, form, and the way we think about design. Having her join the team therefore makes perfect sense to us — both personally and professionally,” say ALEXMONHART founders Alexandra and Daniel Steklík.
Václavková first gained wider recognition with her student project Rectangle Shoes, which became part of the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. She later presented OffCuts, an experimental footwear collection exploring the principles of circular design. The project received the Czech Grand Design Discovery of the Year award and was selected as a finalist at the prestigious Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography.
Alongside her independent projects, Václavková has gained extensive international experience, including an internship at Atelier du Sartel in Paris, work with German footwear brand EKN, and later a position as a designer for Italian brand Gia Borghini in Florence. She is also part of the Czech design studio Balance is Motion, which focuses on product design, material research, and sustainable approaches to production.
